NEWS RELEASE

 DATE 11/1/2016        TIME 9:30 A.M.

CASE#16-78347

On 11/1/2016 at about 9:30 A.M. the SHASCOM dispatch center received a report of a traffic collision in the 4100 block of Churn Creek Road. The collision involved a single vehicle, which was being driven by Kristy Lynn Whitmore, 30 years of age, of Redding, CA. Whitmore was driving a 2010 Subaru station wagon south bound on Churn Creek Road and for undetermined reasons left the west side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Whitmore was wearing her seatbelt and the vehicle airbags were deployed during the collision. Whitmore was transported to a local area hospital for complaint of neck and back pain.

The utility pole was sheared off and ended up blocking the south bound lanes of Churn Creek Road. As a result, Churn Creek Road was closed to traffic in both directions, so personnel from Redding Electric Utility and City of Redding Streets could replace the pole. Driving impaired doesn’t appear to have been a factor in this collision.
